About Us
The People’s Organization for Women Empowerment Trust (POWER) is a women-headed, women-led, and women-managed not-for-profit, non-political organization that exists solely to work for the empowerment of women and girls. Established in 1998, POWER was born out of a deep realization that women—especially from rural and marginalized communities—needed to come together to challenge socio-economic injustice, gender-based violence, and cultural practices that perpetuated inequality. Women's empowerment and self-confidence are built on creating conditions for women to exercise independence, access equal opportunities, take control of their lives, and foster personal growth. Key strategies include promoting financial independence, fostering supportive networks for women, encouraging positive self-talk and affirmations, developing new skills, and unleashing achievements, which overall contribute to women's strong sense of self-worth and the ability to make confident decisions.
